Our Roots and Reflecting on a Magical Year
As 2024 draws to a close, I’m inspired, to reflect on the milestones and connections that have shaped this year and share the roots of our story with you.
A half century ago, my mother, Lynda (Conner) Weaver, and father, Dorn Weaver, purchased this land—a place that would mark the beginning of my journey here. [You can read more about this story here in the Oklahoman.] In 2017, my father fulfilled one of his dreams as we returned to this land to build a life.
Our devotion to family and God guides our steps and shapes our stories. My two sons will always be the heart of my journey, and my husband, whose unwavering love and support helps anchor me. We continue to be inspired by the dreams of my parents and the kindness of others. Please join me in reflecting on this magical year!
Highlights of 2024
Special Moments
- On Sunday, May 5th, we hosted a baptism ceremony for our family. It was also a moving moment when the pastor blessed our family, barn, and horses.
- On a movie-like evening under the Northern Lights, Lorelei foaled a healthy filly we named Aurora Avail. She was born on Friday, May 10th.
- On Saturday, June 29th, we hosted an Open Barn event welcoming the McLoud Mayor, a Kickapoo Native American – McLoud Blackberry Junior Princess, and local nonprofits to celebrate the arrival of our filly.
- We were graced by the return of the bald eagle in August.
Community Engagement
- The connections made at our Open Barn Event led to an exciting opportunity—we were invited to showcase our Friesian horses at the Cargo Ranch annual rodeo, where we connected with over 200 attendees and fulfilled one of my lifelong dreams to use my horses to uplift others.
- We supported two local nonprofits by participating in their annual runs.
- We were featured in both the FHANA magazine for “Foal of the Week” and the Lincoln County newspaper, sharing our story with broader audiences.
Expanding Our Reach
This year, Brush Springs Stables connected with over 279 onsite visitors. Beyond our property, our digital presence reached an average of over 5,000 online views monthly across platforms.
Every view, click, and interaction represents someone who shares our passion for the land, our heritage, and the Friesian horses we hold dear.
Events at Brush Springs
- I was deeply touched when our cousin asked if she could be baptized at Brush Springs. Helping her dream come true became the inspiration for our entire year. Nearly 50 people came together to witness this ceremony.
- We held an Open House event, creating spaces for our community to connect, learn, and experience the Friesian breed. We also helped promote forestry by sharing educational material and passing out flags for sampling trees.
Progress and Projects
This year, we made improvements to Brush Springs Stables, including:
- Added concrete to the center barn aisle with the help of our neighbors.
- Built a bathroom door and installed a sink.
- Built custom wooden stall fronts.
- We decorated the barn with Christmas lights.
- Continuing training progress with Lady Lorelei at the J9 training event.
Gratitude and Lessons Learned
As our story unfolds, we’re humbled by the “life evolving” moments that have shaped this journey. Every experience and project has been a meaningful step toward growth, grounding my life in purpose, hope, and love, and what I believe my parents dreamed of for me. I am grateful for the kindness of others who have walked alongside me, offering friendly support along the way.
We’ve also gained a deeper appreciation for our horses and the invaluable lessons they bring about care and safety. From making thoughtful decisions about feeding practices to refining safety protocols, we continue to learn and grow, creating a nurturing and safe environment for our horses and those who visit Brush Springs Stables.
Looking Ahead
I look forward to what lies ahead—dreams of adding balcony railings, an entry sign, and perhaps tanning one last bison hide. But mostly, I try to stay present in the moment, cherishing my husband and two sons and breathing in the healing beauty that surrounds us.
To everyone who has been part of this journey—whether you joined us at an event, volunteered, lent a helping hand, or took your family photos here—we hope you felt welcomed! We’d love to hear if something inspired you or what your favorite moment was at Brush Springs Stables. Share your thoughts below, and here’s to another year!
We invite you to take a look and relive the highlights that made this year so special.
