Open Hearts and Open Barn Event at Brush Springs Stables

On June 29th, Brush Spring Stables hosted an Open Hearts and Open Barn community event and welcomed 50 guests to our stables, showcasing our facilities and beloved Friesian horses. The charming McLoud Junior Blackberry Princess, Angelica Pepiakitah, greeted the guests, setting the tone for a day of celebration and togetherness. Brandon Baumgarten, a local youth pastor from Hazel Dell Baptist Church, opened the event with a heartfelt prayer, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere. Mayor McClure of McLoud also attended, emphasizing the importance of community support and collaboration.

Our Friesian horses were the stars of the day. Attendees had the unique opportunity to meet these beautiful horses and learn about their history, care, and special bond. The event featured various activities for all ages, from guided barn tours to hearing about our tree flagging project to encountering our horses.

We are beyond grateful to Brush Springs Stables for opening their barn doors and allowing us to experience the beauty and grace of their stunning friesian horses. Your hospitality and the seren envrionment provided us with an unforgettable day. ~ Taylor Bishop

Lyn Woodhouse of Woodhaven Friesians was a generous sponsor and ensured everyone was well-fed with delicious hot dogs, chips, and water. Lyn also donated a saddle to Cargo, brought her beautiful horse, Atlas, and donated all the leftover hot dogs to Hazel Dell Baptist Church and the McLoud Blackberry Princess Honor Dance Event.

We had the honor of featuring Cargo Ranch, a local nonprofit organization that operates a mentorship program for children. Visitors could learn about their impactful work and how they could support their mission. Debbie Goss and her daughter Izzy, who are involved with Cargo Ranch, spoke highly of Lorelie and her gentle nature. One of my goals is for my program and horses to be incorporated into equine therapy.

The barn looked incredible and it was a great day as we celebrated Friesians gelding and the brand new foal Aurora Avail. It was a great day in the barn at Brush Springs! ~ Brandon Baumgarten

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our dedicated family of volunteers, including Billy, Kim, Cory, Chad, Candi, Brooks, and Hudson Martin. We are also deeply thankful to our sponsor, the Friesian Horse Association of North America, as well as the support from Community Renewal of Pottawatomie County, and to Lisa Driver, a board member of the Friesian Horse Association of Oklahoma, for her presence at our event alongside community leaders.

The open house celebrated our horses and was a testament to our community. We are excited to continue building on this momentum, creating more opportunities to connect with our treasured horses and each other. As this was our first public event, we gained valuable experience and have provided a way for you to give us feedback. We encourage you to share your thoughts!

Thank you to everyone who opened their hearts to support and attend, making the event truly unique. To those who could not attend, we want you and as well as everyone to know that we look forward to welcoming you to future gatherings at Brush Springs Stables.
